Capstar and Frontline Plus will both control fleas except they both have different purposes and methods. They can be used together for more effective treatment as well.

What They Treat

Capstar is a fast acting knockdown of adult fleas and will last for 24 hours. It will kill all exisiting adult fleas on your dog.
Frontline Plus treats for all flea stages in the pet's surroundings including flea eggs and flea allergy dermatitis. It controls sarcoptic mange and lice. It also treats for paralysis ticks and brown dog ticks for 2 weeks.

What Is In Them

Capstar contains Nitenpyram. Frontline Plus contains fipronil and methoprene.

How Old Do Pets Need To Be

Capstar can be used on puppies and kittens from 4 weeks of age. Frontline Plus can be used on puppies & kittens from 8 weeks of age.

How To Administer

Capstar is a small tablet that needs to be given to the pet orally. You can give Capster with or without food. Capstar can be given each 24 hours, or as you see fleas on your pet.
Frontline comes in liquid form in a tube that is placed on the back of the dogs neck and will treat fleas for 1 month at a time. They are both water resistant for 1 month after 24-48 hours of application.

What Size Pets

Capstar comes in 2 different weight sizes; Dogs and cats 1-24lbs (0.5-11kgs) in a blue packet and dogs 24-125lbs (11.1-57kgs) in a green packet.
Frontline Plus comes in 5 different weight ranges; Cats in a green packet, dogs up to 22lbs (up to 10kgs) in a orange packet, dogs 23-44lbs (10-20kgs) in a blue packet, dogs 45-88lbs (20-40kgs) in a purple packet and dogs 89-132lbs (40-60kgs) in a red packet.

Product Pack Sizes

You can buy Capstar as 1 pack (6 tablets) or 5 packs (30 tablets).
Frontline Plus can be purchased in single doses (1 month supply), 3 packs (3 month supply), 6 packs (6 month supply) and 12 packs (12 month supply).

The Price

Both products are different in what they do so comparing the price is so what unfair. Yes, Capstar is cheaper,on the other hand Frontline Plus is longer lasting so using Frontline Plus would most likely be cheaper in the long term. You can use Capstar and Frontline together, doing this would make using Frontline Plus more effective.
